May 24, 1938: "Russell J. Otten of the regional office of the Bureau of Agricultural Economics at Indianapolis, Ind. is conferring with local officials today on the southeastern Ohio project, near Duncan Falls. He plans to return to Indianapolis late today.
According to C.V. Kendall, resettlement project manager, options have been secured on three of eight tracts of land to be added to the project. He also said that concrete footers had been poured for the 100-foot fire tower which is being constructed for the forest ranger who will be stationed in the park after it has been turned over to the State Division of Forestry. The eight-room house which is being constructed for the use of the ranger is also nearing completion." (The Zanesville Signal)

September 17, 1966: "Lee Roy Cates, 38, of Shreve Route 1, pilot for the Ohio Division of Forestry, sustained a minor injury at 9:05 a.m. Friday when his state-owned plane skidded off the end of a dew-covered grass runway at Blue Rock State Forest and went over a small embankment.
Highway patrolmen said Cates sustained a cut on his lower lip but did not require treatment. His passenger, James Lenox, 37, of Dover, state forestry supervisor, escaped injury.
Officers said the plane skidded off the south end of the runway near the fire tower, went over a small embankment and landed on Blue Rock Township Road 452 when the pilot applied the brakes.
The left landing gear and wing and nose of the plane were damaged. The plane was disassembled and taken back to its base at New Philadelphia for repair." (The Times Recorder)
