April 2, 1930: "Erwin Wispell, towerman at Harvey Fire tower, Dalles, reported yesterday that forty-three calls of forest fires have been sent out from his tower thus far this year. Melvin C. Hewitt has answered eleven of these calls and the largest fire swept approximately 200 acres on the Luzerne mountain about a week ago, burning ten hours before it was subdued by a large force of men working underd the direction of three fire wardens." July 17, 1946: "Inspection of 11 forest fire towers in the five-county Lackawanna District is in progress, District Forester Manuel M. Gordon announced today.
Towers are being checked to determine what repairs, if ant, are needed to bring them up to standard in preparation for the fall fire season. Fire wardens are being contacted by inspectors.
Towers scheduled for inspection next week include: Harvey's Tower." (Times Leader, The Evening News)
October 16, 1947: "Robert Lohman, in charge of Harvey's tower, near Shrine Country Club, Dallas, reported a small fire yesterday at Loyalville which burned over two acres and a large fire which he discovered about 2:30 burning near Evans Falls, near Noxen in Wyoming County." August 30, 1948: "The district office attached to Pennsylvania Department of Forests and Waters also announced it will operate eight towers starting October 1.
Towers in Luzerne County include: Harvey's Tower, Dallas Township, 1,650 feet, Herbert Lohman, Trucksville, in charge." (Times Leader, The Evening News)
October 18, 1953: "Bill Harlos, who is in charge of the fire tower north of Irem Temple Country Club, gets a birds-eye view of the beautiful countryside with its changing leaves of many colors. Bill is keeping his fingers crossed, too. Since resuming his duties Oct. 1 no fires have been reported in his area." (Wilkes Barre Sunday Independent)

April 13, 1955: "Harvey's Tower, located on the Irem Temple Country Club grounds at Dallas. Operator is William Harlos. This tower can see the back side of the Plymouth Mountain toward Harding and almost to Tunkhannock. The Huntsville Dam and Harvey's Lake areas are in its view." (Wilkes-Barre Times Leader)
July 10, 1962: "Fire towers manned: The fire towers on Penobscot at Mountaintop, Harvey Tower, near Irem Country Club, Dallas, and Big Bear Spring Tower, near Dupont, are now being manned round-the-clock due to the dry spell.
