KENTUCKY LOOKOUTS
CALLOWAY COUNTY MURRAY
Calloway County
November 22, 1960: "Four Calloway County youths today are being held in Calloway County jail on charges of firing eight shots from a rifle into a fire tower six miles east of here Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Ruth Fergerson, who was operating the tower at the time, said she dropped to the floor when the shooting started, but from the tower later saw four men driving away in a yellow Ford.
The quartet was arrested about a half-hour later by Sheriff Cohen Stubblefield. None of the boys reportedly made a statement.
Six shots from a .22 caliber automatic rifle slammed through the glass windows of the 85 feet tall tower, and the other two hit the outside and glanced away." (The Paducah Sun)
