1930: "Anne Arundel County is taking an increasing interest in her forest fire problem, which is one of the most serious in the State. During 1930, the county contributed $400 towards a lookout tower, which is to be erected in 1931, near Hillmeade, Prince Georges County. The proposed tower will provide detection for a very important forest area in Anne Arundel County." (State Department of Forestry Report for 1930)
