1914: "Chief Warden Geo. E. Hathaway, Jacksonville--A lookout station built at Cooper and one-half mile telephone to connect it with New England Telephone Company. A good trail has been cleared along the line." (1914 Forest Commissioner's Report)
1920: Inventory shows a 48-foot wood tower.
