December 8, 1921: :The automobile road to the top of Rainares is now completed and many autoists are going up to the top of the mountain to enjoy the fine view from the new steel fire tower. This point is 2293 feet above sea level. As many as seven auto parties have been there at one time. There are two good springs there and a nice cabin has been erected by the forestry department near the tower. Russel E. Berry, of Loganton, state forest ranger is in charge. Visitors are welcome." June 9, 1936: "Mount Riansares, formerly called Penny Hill, was the scene of lumbering operations, the ground at one time belonging to the Duke of Riansares, a Spanish potentate. It now serves as a forest fire lookout, with a 60-foot steel fire tower and stone mansion, elevation 2,300 feet. Camp 66, CCC is located nearby." (Lock Haven Express)
April 7, 1937: "A young son of Edward Bierly, of Booneville, suffered a fractured left arm Sunday when he fell on a rock while running toward the fire tower near Mount Riansares with a group of boys. He was taken to Loganton by Samuel D. Ilgen and treated by a Mill Hall physician. Harry E. Lamey is watchman at the tower." (Gazette And Bulletin)
April 4, 1938: "Harry E. Lamey has been employed as towerman on the large steel forest fire tower on Mount Riansares overlooking the local forest area. His duties will continue until the woods become free of threatening fires." (Lock Haven Express)
