192 ??: "Weed Patch Hill now forms part of this reservation. It is the intention to erect an 80-foot steel tower on the hill, which is the second highest point in the state. The tower will serve the purpose of discovering forest fires on and surrounding the reservation." (Annual Report - Indiana Department of Conservation - 1923)
November 12, 1941: "The fire tower, which rises 90-feet above the ground on Weed Patch Hill, is near the park drive. The visitor who reaches the ranger cabin at the top of the tower is rewarded with a view that extends to the horizon." (The Culver Citizen)
July 6, 1944: "Only 1.7 inches of rain at fire tower in June. Bennie Petro, in charge of the fire tower at the State Park, reports some interesting weather observations for the past two months. According to the Government weather recording apparatus there 4.1 inches of rain fell in the month of May but only 1.7 inches in June." (Brown County Democrat)
