HURLEY
Jackson County - Mississippi Forest Service
August 4, 1950: "Fire completely destroyed the home occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Honor Jones at the forest fire tower at Hurley last Friday afternoon.
The fire started in the front bed room shortly after lunch and is believed to have started by a bolt of lightning. No one was at home at the time.
Only a small trunk containing important papers was saved by Lamar Baria who broke a rear window to enter. Everything else was lost.
The Joneses are making their home for the present in a small house which they own behind their store." (The Chronicle Star The Moss Point Advertiser)
